Conventional Deadlift

The Deadlift is a frequently used exercise to develop increased strength, power, and hypertrophy. There are a number of variations, but the two most commonly used barbell variations are Conventional and Sumo.

Here, we have @scuhlir performing the Conventional Deadlift. This variation requires a narrow stance, typically performed with the feet under the hips. This enables the athlete to increase the bar speed off the floor during the initial pull. The Conventional Deadlift also requires less hip mobility than the Sumo but also requires an increased range of motion during the entire movement. Ultimately, the Deadlift provides tremendous total body development, the variation is largely dependent on the demands of the individual.
