Ground Bison Meatballs

These delicious bison meatballs are a healthier alternative to ground beef while being quick and easy to make. As Coach Ryan explains, this recipe is ready to serve in less than half an hour and can be made ahead of time.


Bison > Ground Beef


Bison is a great healthier alternative to beef and is widely available in North America. You can find it by the ground beef in superstores or at your local butcher.


  • Bison is a leaner red meat.

  • It has around 25% fewer calories.

  • It's lower in fat and saturated fat.

  • It's more tender meat.

  • It's more sustainable meat and is grass-fed.

  • Bison is flavorful meat. It has a lighter and slightly sweeter taste compared to beef. It doesn't have a gamey taste.



Ingredients


  • 16oz package bison meat

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp chopped onion

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • Pinch of salt


Instructions


  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly coat a baking sheet with nonstick spray.

  2. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix until well-incorporated.

  3. Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, form meatballs. Roll into balls and place on a prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all the meat is used.

  4. Bake for 15 minutes, turning meatballs over halfway through.


Enjoy served over rice and carrots :)
